Since graduating in 2004 as a director at The London Film School, Marina's been working as a Film Director.

With ten years of commercial experience her clients include Vodafone, Samsung, 7UP, Renault and Unilever brands. Marina's pro bono Matches for WWF was shortlisted at Cannes Lions 2008 and two of her films for Amnesty International were Gold Prize at New York Festivals in the same year.

Marina started her career as a Junior Art Director, eventually crossing over into moving image, where her first short films ‘Jam Session’ and ‘Solo’, received recognition with several prizes such as Leopard Of Tomorrow’s Aaton Prize, at 52nd Locarno International Film Festival, and The Audiences Award at Beijing International Film Festival.

She was also one of the young talents, selected worldwide, to participate at the Berlinale Talent Campus at Berlin Film Festival 2003, while still studying at LFS.

Marina was based in the UK for a number of years but throughout her life she lived in many different places like Lisbon, Macau, Guinea-Bissau, London and New York.

Whilst working in advertising, studying cinema and investing in her passion for photography, Marina has been able to take full advantage of a wide range of influences, inspirations and skills. In 2013 she added Psychology and Neuroscience to her personal interests and has now a Post-Graduation degree in Psychology of Emotions from ISCTE-IUL University.

At present Marina Simões is a Film Director and Screenwriter based in Lisbon, represented by House Of Quest, while still maintaining her strong ties to the UK.
